Pen Drawing 01

I was looking through one of my sketch books the other day and found a picture of a fluffy snail!
Odd I know.
I don't remember exactly why I sketched it but I instantly though - I bet more people would like snails if they were fluffy.

Well, this is the out come.

I also used watercolour pencils (with out adding water.. so I guess they're just pencils)
I also filmed drawing it. (it's speeded up)

(Plus the song by The Eagles called journey of the sorcerer is on it, which was the music from The Hitchhickers Guide to the Galaxy intro)

Greetings cards

I was having a look through the local greetings cards I sell on Etsy and in a little post office just around the corner from where I live.

It's interesting. Virtually no one I talk to seems to know how to get to the stone cross!
It's on the moors somewhere… Next to a road.
I guess that’s why it doesn't sell as well.

Time to replace Ralph's cross and print something else (Captain Cook's Monument probably).

Sleep deprivation

Does sleep, or more a lack of it, affect the way you think?

Right now all I can think of is what kind or junk food can I eat, do I have any Twix’s I can bite the ends of so as I can suck my coffee up through it… how much pro plus tablets can be inserted under a person’s eyelids before it impedes blinking… can energy drinks be soaked up through the skin in some sort of foot bath based scenario because I’m knackered!!

*The only safe option in the above I think is the Twix thing.*

Not getting enough sleep makes you make bad decisions, I’m sure of it.
Right now I’m wondering what a takeaway cheese burger with a mars bar in it would taste like and that’s just not right!

So what’s the solution?
Caffeine can make you jumpy and eating pure sugar or chocolate snacks is just a quick fix.
Power naps maybe! Curling up in the boot of your car or someone else’s. As long as it’s a friend’s car boot, I’d hate to think someone could be so tired that they’d try to get themselves kidnapped for a quick kip, and hope that sustains you for the day.
Then again power naps leave some people feeling even worse!

Before you know what you’re doing your putting your shoes in the fridge and
chucking out all your spoons.
As for me, I just go with it.
Sleep deprivation may alter your way of thinking or it might not
(I know it makes my Dyslexia worse)
but heck, what harm can it do…

OH NO!
THERE’S A DRAGON ON MY NAIGHBOURES ROOF AND THE KNIGHT’S FALLEN IN MARMALADE!!

(Wish my someone hadn’t left that Lego here)

Watercolour Robots

I got myself an actual camcorder to film the my speed paintings for youtube!

So the first thing I did was video myself adding watercolour paint to some of the Tin Robots I've been drawing to go on greetings cards.

And here they are. finished.

now all I need to do is get them on cards.
(and then sell them)

These are the Video's of me adding watercolour.

Well, there's something else taken off the - List 1 -  I mentioned at the beginning of Feb.

Here is my new camera and this was the set up I ended up using to do the filming.

My gorillapod is coming in handy.

Children's book Illustrations p1

I've just been looking through the sketches I did for the Illustrations to my children's book.
They were rough and not great.
The thing is there is one missing. That’s not strictly true. It appears there are a few missing. What I mean is that there is an important one missing and I have not done a finished picture of it. Let me try to explain.
I started to write a story about a small person who goes off to get something back for a friend after a Magpie based robbery. But the story was born from a solitary picture I drew and which I've just noticed does not appear in ether my sketches or the finished pictures I've completed so far.
Now I'm wondering, does the original image matter?

It was of a small person sitting cross legged under a leaf, sheltering from the rain.
I even did another version for a friend of the family of the original image.

right. virsion for friend of family.

Nature photography competition post 2

I've just finished editing my entries for the natural history museum's photography competition.
I think the hardest thing was the captions that go along with the images you entre.
What do you say about an image that will sum up the day and events that led to that image being captured.

Anyway, at least it was easy coming up with the one that went with my Red Squirrel photograph.

It's one of the images I sell on Etsy as an A5 card.

Even If I don't win anything etc from the competition it's self I have gained insight into the sort of questions asked when entering such competitions.

photographing babies

I went and met up with a friend of mine I haven't seen for a while to see him, his wife and his new baby.
I decided to take some photos before I left in low light without flash ( know, I know).

Due to neither of them having the capacity to sit still for longer than a quarter of a second I decided to just make the sequence of pictures into a video.

I got some interesting pictures to edit and play around with even if you arn't my best work.
